a sick man

If you are a lawyer, you’ll have the opportunities to see lots of ugly deeds and the seamy side of human nature.

Tonight, a classmate sent a message to me and said that one of her friends was going to get a divorce from her husband and wanted to consult me about it. “No problem, just phone me”, I replied.

Then I got the phone of her friend. After a short self-introduction, she began to tell her stories. She seemed to trust me very much and described all the details, just like a patient trusted the doctor.

Her story was a bit long although she had married just for one year. She married into a rich family last year and the happy time after wedding was so short. Before long, she found the first mistress of her husband. She forgave him. But after she found the second, the third and saw a lady lying on her bed, she despaired.

The man was very sick. He even took pictures with his mistress and stuck it on his mobile phone. When he was asked who the woman was, he said that the woman was just a film star. Now, I don’t want to talk about him any more.

Then I gave her some advice, from the point of view of a lawyer. I sympathized with her in her sufferings very much. I remember a saying that women fear marrying an improper man and men fear engaging upon an improper vocation.
